Start from a reference line
Choose a line that matters visually, such as a doorway, pool edge or main path. Work out how the paver grid relates to it so the pattern does not drift or end in an awkward narrow cut.
Measure across the full area and account for joints. Plan borders and changes in direction before deciding where the first paver will sit.
Check access and handling
Large pieces may be heavier and need careful handling. Confirm delivery access and installation logistics with the contractor, especially in enclosed courtyards or upper-level areas.
The installer should confirm that the selected format suits the base, site and intended use. Product size alone does not establish suitability.
Balance pattern with the surroundings
A simple grid can let the material and landscape stand out. A contrasting border or direction change can define a zone, but each extra detail adds cuts and layout decisions.
