Assess how the driveway will be used

Note the vehicles, turning paths and areas where wheels stop or pivot. Share this information with the installer so the paving system can be selected for the expected use.

The ground, existing base and site slope affect the design. A surface paver alone does not determine how a driveway will perform; the supporting construction is part of the system.

Coordinate paver size and pattern

Customstone SA lists square driveway pavers in 300 x 300 x 50 mm and 400 x 400 x 50 mm sizes. Compare the pattern with the drive width, adjoining path and garage threshold.

Draw the layout with joint widths and edge restraints included. Plan transitions to paths and roads so cut pieces and levels are considered early.

Set drainage and installation details

Discuss water flow, drainage, base preparation and edge restraint with the installer before ordering. These details vary from property to property and may require site-specific design.
